The Problem w/ Spotify Playlists

I want to start off by saying I love Spotify, I use it everyday and have created more playlists on there than I can even keep track of.  This is not a rant on Spotify as a platform, but the way their playlists work (or... don't work).

Plain and simple, a good majority of the pre-determined playlists on Spotify are useless and/or make no sense.  How can they label a playlist "Workout Playlist"?  Everyone in the world likes to workout to different music!  Some like heavy metal, some like techno/house, some like rap, some like classic rock...  These generically-named playlists are essentially just the billboard top 100 re-labeled.  I know more people than not that despise working out to that type of music they hear all week on the radio.

Another group of playlists that baffle me are "homework" or "work" playlists.  What could that possibly contain?  Is there honestly a type of music falls under that category?!  Literally, it could be ANYTHING.  It could be music with a fast beat... Or soothing music like Mozart... Or _____?  I can tell you when I play those playlists, the music is all over the board and I'm always disappointed.  

So what's my point?  Instead of quantity, Spotify should focus on quality.  They should be relentless on providing better names and adding descriptions that reflect what the listener should expect.  Then, using that criteria, actually filter out songs if they don't make sense in that playlist.

Don't get me wrong, there ARE playlists on Spotify that make sense and follow that model.  They're just hard to find amongst all the misleading, misnamed, 'catch-all' playlists that flood the various playlist categories.

In closing, Spotify, if you're listening, please help us music lovers out and optimize your plethora of playlists to allow us to get us back to the music.
